What is Pathology - Is there a difference in the healing process between wounds that heal by primary intention and those that heal by secondary intention?
In all wounds, the basic healing process is the same. Wounds healing by secondary intention, in contrast to clean surgical wounds healing by primary intention: - Take longer to close because the margins are so far apart; - Have a more pronounced inflammatory reaction in and around the wound; - Have more granulation tissue inside the tissue defect
