What is Pathology – What are Pseudopods ?
Pseudopods is a phrase that literally translates to "false feet" in Greek. It describes the cytoplasmic extensions that form at the leading edge of active leukocytes. Pseudopods contain microfilament aggregates made up of actin and myosin. Myosin contraction causes microfilaments to shorten, which function as ropes, pushing the remaining cytoplasm toward the pseudopods' farthest tip.
