The enlargement of mitochondria is a reversible process. The following are examples of irreversible changes: a) Fragmentation b) Rupture of double membrane c) Myelin figures (concentric curling up of damaged membranes) & d) Calcification Mitochondria that have been damaged are picked up by autophagosomes and degraded.
