What is Psychology - What Is aberration?
1. A departure from what is customary, appropriate, or typical. 2. A momentary decline in conduct or mental capacity. 3. A flaw in any lens or mirror, including the crystalline lens of the eye, known as astigmatism or dioptric aberration, which prevents light rays from focusing on a singular focal point. In chromatic aberration, different light wavelengths are concentrated at various distances and refracted at various angles, resulting in distorted pictures with coloured fringes. Spherical aberration is a defect in which light passing through the lens near its edge is focused at a different point from light passing through the lens near its center, resulting in a distorted visual picture. [From the Latin aberrare, meaning to wander away; ab away + errare, meaning to wander + -ation, signifying a condition or procedure]
