A fundamental approach to physiological psychology study that relies on *ablation, particularly in the first three quarters of the 20th century, in which an effort is made to identify the functions of a particular area of the nervous system by looking at the behavioural effects of its surgical removal. The French scientist Marie Jean Pierre Flourens (1794–1867) invented it in 1824, and it is also known as a lesion experiment.

In certain cases, it involves D and E where D is disputing and E is the effect of practicing rational thinking. |
