What is ENT -What does the term "field cancerization" mean?
A precancerous change in the epithelium, such as dysplasia or carcinoma in situ, that is close to an invasive malignancy is referred to as "field cancerization." This is more frequent in malignancies linked to smoking, suggesting that these risk factors may affect tissues more generally.

What is ENT - What are tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes, and proto-oncogenes?
A proto-oncogene is a normal gene that, when altered, can help produce cancer. An oncogene is a gene that has the potential to cause cancer. A gene known as a tumor suppressor prevents a cell from developing into cancer. When paired with protooncogene and oncogene overexpression, mutations in tumor suppressor genes that result in loss of function may enable the cell to develop into cancer.

What is ENT - What molecular methods are employed to examine the origins of the development of head and neck cancer?
Stains for proteins in tumor specimens are produced via immunohistochemistry (IHC). Fluorescent probes are used in fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to detect DNA translocations. Next-generation sequencing refers to a multitude of techniques that enable the simultaneous analysis of a large number of genes for mutations and/or fusions.

.What is ENT - What is the multi-hit theory of cancer development?
According to this view, a cell must experience numerous mutations or aberrations before it may become cancerous. Different cellular alterations can lead to various tumor forms.

What is ENT -  List the masticatory muscles, their attachment points, and their main functions.
The main function of the masseter muscle is to elevate the mandible and bring the teeth into occlusion. It arises from the maxillary process of the zygomatic bone and zygomatic arch. • The temporalis muscle, which inserts on the coronoid process and lifts and lowers the mandible, arises from the temporal fossa. • Medial pterygoid muscle: the superficial portion originates from the maxillary tuberosity and pyramidal process of the palatine bone, while the deep portion arises from the medial surface of the lateral pterygoid plate of the sphenoid bone. Both portions attach to the medial surface of the ramus and angle of the mandible. The mandible is raised as the main action. • The lower portion of the lateral pterygoid muscle originates from the lateral surface of the lateral pterygoid plate of the sphenoid bone, while the upper portion originates from the infratemporal surface and crest of the greater wing of the sphenoid bone. Both portions attach to the coronoid process of the mandible. The mandible is primarily depressed and protruded.
