Differential diagnosis of causes of Pneumothorax
-interstitial lung disease such as sarcoidosis, lymphangioleiomyomatosis, eosinophilic granuloma (Langerhans cell histiocytosis), histiocytosis X, -menstruation ( catamenial pneumothorax) -pneumocystic pneumonia ( PCP) -tuberculosis -cystic fibrosis -asthma -chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( ruptured bleb or bulla) -apical bleb rupture for thin, tall males age 10 -30 -positive pressure mechanical ventilation -cardiopulmonary resuscitation -lung infection -penetrating trauma -blunt trauma -central line placement -percutaneous or transbronchial lung -pleural biopsy -thoracentesis
