Differential diagnosis of causes of Pulmonary Hypertension
-sickle cell disease -schistosomiasis -HIV -cirrhosis with portal hypertension -polycythemia vera -high altitude / chronic mountain sickness -atrial myxoma -left sided heart failure -mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation, aortic stenosis -pulmonary veno occlusive disease -radiation -drugs or toxins such as fenfluramine, dexfenfluramine, phentermine, bleomycin, amiodarone, talc, -left to right intracardiac shunt -slceroderma or other connective tissue disease -Pickwickian Syndrome ( obesity hypoventilation syndrome) -sleep apnea -intersitial lung disease -chronic obstructive pulmonary disease -chronic pulmonary embolism -primary pulmonary hypertension
