Differential diagnosis of Cirrhosis:
-non cirrhotic causes of portal hypertension such as schistosomiasis or portal vein thrombosis or splenic vein thrombosis -upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to Mallory Weiss Syndrome or peptic ulcer disease -encephalopathy due thiamine deficiency or uremia -hepatomegaly due to hepatocellular carcinoma or hepatitis -edema or ascites due congestive heart failure, myxedema or nephrotic syndrome
