Differential diagnosis of high reticulocyte count causing normocytic anemia
-Coombs negative: extrinsic disease such as bruns, malarial infection, Clostridium, Borrelia, splenic sequestration, prosthetic valve hemolysis, disseminated intravascular coagulation, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura -Coombs negative: intrinsic red cell disease such as abnormal hemoglobin due to thalassemia, methemaglobinemia, sickle cell disease, membrane defect due to hereditary spherocytosis, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, hereditary elliptocytosis, enzyme defect such as G6PD deficiency, pyruvate kinase deficiency -blood loss -hemolysis
