:Differential diagnosis of renal tubular acidosis:
-Type I ( distal H+ secretion defect) presented low serum potassium, urine pH of less than 5.5, linked with hypercalcemia or autoimmune disease -Type II ( proximal HCO3- reabsorption defect) low serum potassium, urine pH less than 5.5. due to drugs such as sulfa or multiple myeloma -Type III –normal serum potassium, urine pH is less than 5.5 associated with renal insufficiency -Type 1V- ( hyporeninemic hypoaldosteronism) high serum potassium, urine pH is less than 5.5 and due to drugs such as NSAIDs or diabetes mellitus
