Beef tapeworm
Beef tapeworm is also known as segmented flatworm or Taenia saginata. Beef tapeworm is a cestode. The common symptoms of beef tapeworm infection may include gastrointestinal disturbance. The common mode of transmission is from ingestion of undercooked beef. Examination of the stool may reveal proglottids ( successive segment )/ strobila. Taenia saginata is a hermaphrodite worm. The treatment may include avoiding undercooked beef and proper disposal of human waste ( avoiding infection spread to cattle) and medicated with praziquantel.
