Molluscum Contagiosum
Molluscum contagiosum is caused by poxvirus molluscum contagiosum virus. Molluscum contagiosum virus can be detected by histological analysis of eosinophilic cytoplasmic inclusion in biopsy of the skin lesions. Molluscum contagiosum may present as pearly raised flesh colored umbilicated nodules which ara painless. The treatment for this benign nodular skin lesions may include applying topical agent, cyrotherapy and curretage. Molluscum contagiosum virus may infects the epidermal cells. Molluscum contagiosum may elicit immune responses an inflammatoy reaction. Molluscum contagiosum is transmitted via direct contact or sexually in case of genital molluscum contagiosum cases.
