Scedosporiosis
Scedosporiosis is caused by scedosporium is an opportunistic fungus which form a member of the hyalohyphomycosis group. Scedosporiosis may present with symptoms and signs such as pneumonia, sinusitis and endophthalmitis. Scedosporium may also lead to dissemination of infection into the central nervous system mostly in immunocompromised patient. Direct examination of the tissue biopsy specimen may reveal the present of hyphae. The common mode of transmission is via inhalation of the aerosolized spores which present in the soil. The common mode of treatment for scedosporium infection may include azole.
