Urinary tract infection ( sexually active women)
Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a normal flora of the lower urinary tract. Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a gram positive coccus. It is non hemolytic on the blood agar plate. Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a catalase positive but coagulase negative. Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a novobiocin resistant bacteria. It is also a gamma hemolytic bacteria. Staphylococcus saprophyticus commonly may cause urinary tract infection mostly in sexually active women. The common treatment for urinary tract infection in sexually active women / against staphylococcus saprophyticus may include trimethoprim - sulfamethoxazole and norfloxacin.
