Opsonins are proteins that are generally found in plasma and interstitial fluids, but they can also develop unintentionally in reaction to injury. The most important opsonins are: -Collectins, such as mannose binding protein, which act as natural lectins -Immunoglobulin G (IgG) -C3b fragment generated after complement cascade activation (carbohydrate-binding proteins)
